Here's what you need to know about LiteracyLens data handling, security, and how to get the compliance documents your school or district's vendor-approval process requires. For the product story behind these commitments, see The On-Device Advantage.
Our data commitments
- No student data, no student accounts. LiteracyLens stores teacher names and observation records only. The app is designed for administrators observing teachers — not for entering student information.
- No teacher accounts required. The principal or literacy consultant is the user; teacher profiles are roster records, not logins.
- The school owns its data. Observation records belong to the school or district, exportable at any time as CSV, PDF, or Word — see the exact columns in the Data Export Spec Sheet.
- No advertising, no behavioral tracking, no sale of data — school, teacher, or observation data, ever.
- Encryption: all observation, teacher, and school records are encrypted on-device with AES-256 and are never transmitted anywhere. The only network connection the app makes — a one-time license sign-in handshake via Firebase (TLS 1.2+) — carries no school data.
- Deletion: observation, teacher, and school records live on-device only and are deleted the moment an administrator deletes them or resets the app — there is no server-side copy to expire. Firebase sign-in credentials may be deleted within 30 days of request. See the Privacy Policy for full detail.
Subprocessors
| Subprocessor | Purpose | Location |

We will not add subprocessors that process school data without updating this page and notifying licensed schools.
